OmniVision has developed a radically different approach to traditional CMOS image sensor technology. Using behind illumination (BSI), the OmniBSI technology enables OmniVision to continue miniaturization of digital imaging technology. The methodology involves turning the sensor upside down so that it collects light through what was previously the behind of the sensor.
